Pain of highly variable duration, but often chronic, in a small circumscribed area of the scalp in the absence of any underlying structural lesion.
Diagnostic criteria:
A. Continuous or intermittent head pain fulfilling criterion B
B. Felt exclusively in an area of the scalp, with all of the following four characteristics:

- fixed in size and shape
- round or elliptical
- 1-6 cm in diameter
- sharply-contoured

I have had this condition for many,many years with easing of pain on occasions.This present episode has been for 8 weeks.Severe,unrelenting dominates daily thoughts and activities.It wears me out .Some years ago I had an MRI .Which was normal.I am desperate.I have not tried any medication and fearful that I will have this for the rest of my life.Any advice?
