Treating Cluster Headache with Psychedelics

Any discussion of cluster headache eventually includes treating cluster headache with psychedelics as an alternative to medical treatment.

CHSG respects and affirms each individual’s right to self-determination, particularly when choosing cluster headache treatment options. To assist patients in making informed treatment decisions, we are commited to providing scientifically accurate, relevant information on all issues related to cluster headache and other trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. To that end, we strongly support further study of psychedelics in large-scale, well-designed, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials. Until these studies are conducted, it is our position that claims of relative safety and/or effectiveness are premature and unproven. Providing detailed information about treating cluster headache with psychedelics, including access, dosing, or health risks is beyond the scope of our mission.
